Hotel De Cima
Av. del Mar S/N |
Built in 1958, the beach front Hotel De Cima used to attract Mazatlan’s “it” visitors. Four decades later, the owners are taking steps to restore this monumental hotel to its former granduer. Staying at the Hotel De Cima now is a bit like staying in an aging mansion like the House of Seven Gables. This Mazatlan hotel, though, has a great feel and is a solid value. From the glossed marlin hanging in the hotel lobby, to the lofty ceilings, dark wood paneled walls, polished granite floors and brick inlays, everything speaks to the hotel’s aging elegance. Hibiscus, ferns and palms bloom in botanical court yard surrounding the figure-eight pool. Mazatlan’s unique Hotel De Cima also houses a large “salon,” or meeting rooom. The hotel’s rooms have walls of brick, and elaborate stone head boards frame the beds and basic ammenities like airconditioning, cable t.v. and telephone. This three wing, 5-story hotel is just two miles from Mazatlan’s historical center and the antique european elegance of Machado Plaza | Plazuela Machado. Just accross the street, palomas (small restaurants residing literally on the beach, under palm thatched huts) create perfect fish and shrimp dishes and serve cold beer to beach goers.Mazatlan’s, Mexico’s one and only hotel De Cima is a wonderful stay for families or middle-class travelers looking for lodging with character and grace. |
